Savages’ Ayşe Hassan starts new project Kite Base, shares ‘Dadum’
She’s teamed up with fellow bassist Kendra Frost for the new minimal industrial-pop project.
Savages’ bassist Ayşe Hassan has shared the first track from her new project Kite Base. Teaming up with Kendra Frost (who also plays bass in post-punk band Blindness) ‘Dadum’ swerves away from the abrasive attack of Savages - and though there’s still a metallic, industrial tint - it moves off into more minimal, pop-fringed territories.
“One of the main starting points found in origami, a Kite Base is an opening move made with simple folds to generate a firm and fertile foundation for creativity,” explained the band in a press release. “It can become whatever you want it to be- simple or complex- based on the imagination of the creator, inspiration and chance. To us, the ‘Kite’ also symbolises the generation of ideas and setting them free to evolve organically, embracing change. The ‘Base’ is the final ordering of these thoughts once they have been allowed to settle. It is a symbiotic relationship. A duo. Our working methodology.”
The double-bass-guitar wielding duo are expected to announce live dates soon. Listen to their first track ‘Dadum’ below.
