See Courtney Barnett cover The Lemonheads’ ‘Being Around’

‘Being Around’, by The Lemonheads, is evidently one of Courtney Barnett’s favourite songs. That’s no secret. She’s been covering the song while on tour for months.

But at a recent homecoming gig at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel, Barnett gave the track a special rendition with the help of Evan Dando. A duet took place, with Dando even going as far as replicating a scrubbing sound for the “would you get down on your knees and scrub me” lyrics - this was no ordinary cover, then.

Courtney Barnett is currently finishing off her forthcoming debut album, the follow-up to ‘Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas’ - it’s tentatively due out in early 2015.

Last week, she played her last UK shows of the year at Brighton’s Drill Festival, and supporting Metronomy at London’s Alexandra Palace.
