Shopping return with ‘The Hype’ and UK tour details
The track is the band’s first new material since 2015’s ‘Why Choose’.
London trio Shopping are back with their first new material since excellent 2015 LP ‘Why Choose’, and we’ve got its first play!
‘The Hype’ comes ahead of a newly announced UK and European tour for later this year, and is as instantly addictive and danceable as the band have become known for.
As socially conscious and angry as it is fun, the track hints at extremely exciting things to come from the band’s third album.
Talking about the track, the band say: “It’s a wake up call to action that says don’t believe everything you hear, always question whats presented to you and don’t just sit around and think about making change before it’s too late.”
Rachel Aggs (guitar/vocals) adds: “But it’s also a party song! We liked offsetting the serious, dead-pan lyrics with the relaxed yet self-assured funk of the song itself, we had a lot of fun writing it - it has a guitar solo and everything! I always wanted to do a song with a drum and bass breakdown section where the guitar drops out too, I find that part so satisfying.”
