Going for gold
Skepta, The 1975, David Bowie among 2017 BRIT Award nominations
Don’t worry, Adele’s in there somewhere too.
The nominations for the 2017 BRIT Awards were revealed this weekend with Skepta leading the pack (equal with pop queens Little Mix, natch), grabbing three nods - for British Male Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and British Album of the Year for the Mercury Prize-winning ‘Konnichiwa’.
Elsewhere, The 1975 are nominated for British Group alongside Bastille, Biffy Clyro, Little Mix and Radiohead, as well as British Album of the Year - the other acts for that gong being David Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’, Kano’s ‘Made in the Manor’, and Michael Kiwanuka’s ‘Love & Hate’.
International Male Solo Artist will be a bunfight between Bon Iver, Bruno Mars, Drake, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd, while International Female Solo Artist is a Knowles love-in, with both Beyoncé and Solange nominated alongside Christine and the Queens, Rihanna and Sia.
British Female Solo Artist has nods for Anohni, Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sandé, Lianne La Havas and Nao.
