Reading 2017 Sløtface give the final day of Reading 2017 a fiery start

Sløtface, Reading Festival, 2017

The four-piece took to The Lock Up to showcase their upcoming debut album.

It’s a bloody warm start to the final day at Reading 2017, and Sløtface vocalist Haley Shea has some advice. “If any girls want to take their shirts off today, then feel free,” she begins before launching into recent single and feminist anthem ‘Nancy Drew’. “And if any man gives you grief for that, you have my permission to punch them in the nuts.”

The band are set to release their debut album ‘Try Not To Freak Out’ in a matter of weeks, and today’s show is a brilliant taster in front of an extremely busy Lock Up stage.

Beginning with album opener ‘Magazine’, the four-piece are full of energy, and team previews of the record with earlier singles brilliantly. ‘Sponge State’ remains wonderfully playful while album track ‘Night Guilt’ is fierce and uncompromising.

Throwing the crowd a disposable camera to take photos of each other with, and firing out t-shirts into the front rows Green Day-style, the Norwegian quartet are intent on making memories today.

Giving one final, frenetic preview of ‘Try Not To Freak Out’ with closer ‘Backyard Adventures’, the band are on fire today, and begin their never-ending upcoming tour by gaining a host of new fans. As if to emphasise that more, they leap down from the stage onto the barrier after the track finishes to hug and greet their new legions. Once their debut album arrives in a matter of days, they’ll have plenty more, too.
