Sløtface celebrate childhood adventures on ‘Backyard’

It’s the latest riotous slice from their upcoming debut ‘Try Not To Freak Out’.

Happy Friday! Out of nowhere Sløtface have dropped a new track from their upcoming debut album ‘Try Not To Freak Out’!

Following on from ‘Pitted’ and ‘Nancy Drew’, ‘Backyard’ is already a firm fan favourite live, but they’ve translated its riotous punk-pop to the studio version pretty much perfectly. Singer Haley said about the track’s lyrics: “The song is about celebrating the adventures you had as a kid that often came from a desperate need to not be bored anymore and to respect the effects of boredom. It’s about trying to capture a sense of that wonder and fun in a new way as you grow up”.

Guitarist Tor adds: “I’ve tried for years to get the band to write a “LCD Soundsystem”-rock track, and we finally did it. It ended up being the most fun we’ve had in a studio in a long time. Like, the guitar is 80% just scratching and hitting random strings. I hope this song can inspire kids and teens to start bands consisting of scratching guitars and shouting”.

Sløtface are also set to go on a blimmin’ huge (and we really mean huge) tour of the UK that kicks off later this month in Bournemouth. The mammoth voyage will see them playing pretty much everywhere you can think of, and tickets for all the dates are on sale now.
