Spotify and Apple Music will both stream unofficial remixes
The change comes after both platforms struck a deal with Dubset.

Big changes are afoot for Spotify and Apple Music. Both streaming platforms have inked deals with music distribution company Dubset, and will now host unofficial remixes on their service.
The deal means that DJs can now upload their single remixes, and in the near-future, longer mixes will also be available. It creates extra income for both the artists that are sampled in unofficial remixes, and the producers who create the new remixes in the first place.
Up until now, Soundcloud held something of a monopoly on this kind of thing. Since there is no middle-man - with users uploading new music direct - it’s often the go-to for extended DJ mixes and remixes. Apple Music and Spotify are most likely aware of this, with the latter reportedly making moves to buy Soundcloud as well.
According to Dubset’s CEO Stephen White, 700 million people listen to mixed content every month, and long-form DJ mixes will be “coming next” to Apple Music and Spotify.
Remixes have already started to appear on Spotify. Listen to DJ Jazzy Jeff’s remix of Anderson .Paak’s ‘Room In Here’ below.
Festival special! Featuring Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Lykke Li, Marmozets, Genesis Owusu and more.
