Superfood: ‘It’s Not Our Main Aim To Be ‘90s’
Birmingham group are part of DIY’s Class of 2014.
Birmingham’s Superfood stand out in the 40 new bands picked out as part of DIY’s Class of 2014, simply on merit of their ability to sport a sound rooted to a previous decade but bringing things forward at the same time.
Dom Ganderton and co. echo the fact that they’re channelling the ’90s, although they’re also keen to state that there’s more to their sound than mere nostalgia.
“Some of the bands around in the ’90s were the last, great British bands,” claims Dom, before claiming their obvious nod to a previous era might not be the actual sum of Superfood’s parts.
“When we release our album, they might see it’s not our main aim to be ‘90s,” he claims. A debut’s expected to be released in early 2014.
