Swim Deep share new single ‘Grand Affection’
The group preview new album ‘Mothers’ with a sweeping synth number.
Swim Deep have shared a new single titled ‘Grand Affection’.
The new cut previews the Birmingham quintet’s second album ‘Mothers’ set to be released 18th September through Chess Club/RCA Records. ‘Grand Affection’ follows the previously shared singles ‘One Great Song And I Could Change The World’ and lead track ‘Brother’.
Characterised by jaunty keys, ‘Grand Affection’ furthers the group’s exploration towards an electronic sound, leaving behind the more guitar-focused tone of debut album ‘Where The Heaven Are We’. Frontman Austin Williams pushes his vocals to the outer limits, delivering lines in falsetto as glistening melodies sweep across the track.
Speaking to about the single and their upcoming album, Williams said:
“There are a lot of gospel influence in the vocals and acid house in the beats. We’ve tried to put a lot of different genres into the album like that. There’s a lot of electronic stuff going on, a lot of spacey stuff as well.”
