With their brand new EP ‘Soft Sea Blue’ due this Friday (15th September) via Hand In Hive/ B3SCI, Swimming Tapes have already recently delivered the nostalgic video for ‘What’s On Your Mind’.
Now, just a couple of days before the collection gets a full airing, the band have unveiled a new track, ‘Alison’. No, it’s not a cover of the Elvis Costello tune but is instead an ode to an old friend, awash in jangly, hazy guitars and a mix of melancholia and joy that comes from looking back at good times.
Speaking about the track, the band said: “Alison is about a good friend of ours who moved to Australia a few years ago. We used to spend a lot of time together and now we can only reminisce, but you know that when you do meet again it will feel like no time has passed. Our friend’s name didn’t really fit the chorus melody so we had to change it to Alison, but they won’t mind!”
With the release of the EP imminent, Swimming Tapes are due to play a headline show to London’s Lexington on 20th September. Tickets for the show are on sale now.
