Sure shot
Franz Ferdinand have remixed Temples’ ‘Certainty’
It doesn’t sound anything like what you’re expecting.
Psych-pop foursome Temples are releasing their second album ‘Volcano’ in March, and shared first single ‘Certainty’ back in September.
Now Franz Ferdinand have stepped in to remix the track. Frontman James Bagshaw commented that “when someone is remixing a song you have a certain idea of how you think it will sound, Franz Ferdinand have really turned the track on its head, arrangement and even genre.”
Yep, that’s certainly what they’ve done here, but if you’re expecting a taut, kraut-pop take on the track, prepare to be surprised. While the original is a dreamy mix of synthetic and analogue elements, Franz Ferdinand have turned ‘Certainty’ into a harsh electro banger. It completely warps Bagshaw’s vocals, has a pulsating bassline, goes a little bit Kraftwerk at one point and isn’t afraid to layer on the fuzz.
