The Cribs sign to Sony RED / set provisional album release date
Follow-up to ‘In the Belly of the Brazen Bull’ is being produced by The Cars’ Ric Ocasek.
Following news that they’ve been in the studio with Ric Ocasek of The Cars (the man behind Weezer’s ‘Blue’ and ‘Green’ albums), The Cribs have left their long-term label Wichita Recordings by inking a deal with Sony RED.
Their sixth studio album has a provisional release date of spring 2015, as Music Week reports. The record will come out on French Kiss Records in North America.
The band’s previous release was a mini best-of, ‘Payola’, and their previous studio album was ‘In the Belly of the Brazen Bull’.
This summer saw the group playing Truck Festival and Sheffield’s Tramlines - aside from that, they’ve been in the studio.
On working with Ric Ocasek, Ryan Jarman told NME: “He doesn’t do records like a gun for hire; he chooses a band. We’ve been trying to get him since the third record, now he thinks we’re definitely good enough.”
