The Libertines Confirm Hyde Park Reunion Show

The band have confirmed rumours that they will perform at Hyde Park this summer.

The Libertines have confirmed they will play a huge reunion show in London’s Hyde Park later this summer.

The band - who performed their ‘final’ show in 2004, before briefly returning in 2010 to play Reading & Leeds Festival - will play on 5th July as part of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.

The Pogues, Spiritualized, Maximo Park, Wolf Alice and Swim Deep will also appear at the event, on a different stage, while support comes from The Enemy, Reverend and The Makers, I Am Kloot, The View, Darlia, The Rifles, Cuckoolander, Brownbear, Raglans, The Twang.

Rumours of the show started circulating earlier this month, when Pete Doherty confirmed that he’d said yes to an offer to reform. Speaking to Israeli newspaper Ynet, he said: ‘I don’t know if I’m supposed to even tell you this, but we were offered to reform The Libertines for a show this July in Hyde park. I got the call just yesterday. Well, I said yes.’

Following on from Pete’s confirmation the band’s Facebook profile picture changed to a map of Hyde Park, and over the weekend, Carl Barat confirmed that a reunion is ‘very much a possibility,’ before telling fans to keep the date of 5th July free.

Other headliners already announced for Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park include Black Sabbath, McBusted, Neil Young and Tom Jones, with more still to come.

Tickets will go on general sale from 2nd May.
