The Libertines fail to show up for London gig, postpone Manchester date
Electric Ballroom date was postponed at the last minute due to a “medical situation”.
Last night (10th September), The Libertines postponed their show at London’s Electric Ballroom on the night it was set to take place.
An official confirmation of the show’s postponement was announced only at 11.30pm, reports NME, over two hours after the band’s scheduled 9.15pm stage time.
The show was set to take place around the release of comeback album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’, as part of an intimate club tour. Tonight’s show at Manchester Ritz has also been postponed. A statement says: “Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight the Libertines have had to postpone their sold out shows at the Electric Ballroom in Camden and at the Ritz in Manchester tomorrow night. Peter, Carl, John and Gary apologise whole heartedly to their fans and will reschedule both shows as soon as possible. This will not effect any of The Libertines other commitments.”
A Libertines spokesperson is reported to have told the London crowd last night: “Due to an emergency - a medical situation - tonight’s show is being postponed. I say postponed because I mean postponed, not cancelled. A new date will be released tomorrow.”
