The Murder Capital share new single ‘Return My Head’

It’s the latest preview of their upcoming second album ‘Gigi’s Recovery’.

Ahead of the release of their second album ‘Gigi’s Recovery’ on 20th January via Human Season Records, The Murder Capital are giving us the latest taste of what to expect, sharing their new single ‘Return My Head’. “’Return My Head’ was written in a place of pure frustration, feeling like our sanity had been unwillingly removed through periods of isolation,” frontman James McGovern explains. “All I wanted at this point was to get my head back, and to throw it away again. But on my own terms. ‘Return my head, and throw it to the crowd’.” Accompanied by a video directed by the band’s own Gabriel Paschal Blake, Gabriel adds, “I wanted to show the rag dolling that can occur to us going from one state of being to another, while always remaining being the same person. The extensions of ourselves that we create to protect ourselves even when we’re alone, and the evident and necessary advice that we receive to continue following and perusing our passions from our friends and family, demonstrated by my own family friends Megan, Nic, Ruairí and Pump. “To me, ‘Return My Head’ is the desire to return your mind to a place of peace and stability, and the belief that to do so, is possible. We shot it in my old secondary school recreational hall. We produced it ourselves. At its best to me, the narrative of the ‘Return My Head’ about coming back to a safety.” We spoke to The Murder Capital last year about what we can expect from ‘Gigi’s Recovery’. “At the beginning of writing the album, we had absolutely no idea what we were going to do other than we were going to evolve,” James told us. “We had a tongue-in-cheek mantra: ‘The evolution will not be compromised’. There was a silent promise that it was met.” Revisit our full chat with The Murder Capital here, and check out ‘Return My Head’ below. ‘Gigi’s Recovery’ Tracklisting: 1 Existence 2 Crying 3 Return My Head 4 Ethel 5 The Stars Will Leave Their Stage 6 Belonging 7 The Lie Becomes the Self 8 A Thousand Lives 9 We Had to Disappear 10 Only Good Things 11 Gigi’s Recovery 12 Exist See The Murder Capital live at the following dates: JANUARY 19 Music Zone, Cork, Ireland * 20 (Afternoon) Tower Records, Dublin, Ireland * 20 Workmans, Dublin, Ireland 21 Banquet Records, Kingston, UK * 22 Vinilo, Southampton, UK * 22 Resident Records, Brighton, UK * 23 Rough Trade East, London, UK * 24 Piccadilly Records, Manchester, UK * 24 Crash Records, Leeds, UK * 25 Rough Trade, Nottingham, UK * FEBRUARY 04 Trix, Antwerp, Belgium 05 LUXOR, Cologne, Germany 06 Molotow, Musikclub Hamburg, Germany 08 Lido, Berlin, Germany 09 Hansa 39 , Munich, Germany 11 La Laiterie, Strasbourg, France 13 Le Trabendo, Paris, France 14 Paradiso, Amsterdam, Netherlands 16 Albert Hall, Manchester, United Kingdom 18 SWG3 TV Studio, Glasgow, United Kingdom 20 Stylus, Leeds, England 21 The Mill, Birmingham, United Kingdom 23 O2 Forum Kentish Town, London, United Kingdom 24 Marble Factory, Bristol, England 26 Vicar Street, Dublin, Ireland * Acoustic in-store performances Get tickets to watch The Murder Capital live now.
