Long-time collaborators Justin Vernon and The Staves have teamed up for a stripped-back cover of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘I’m On Fire,’ performed onstage at London’s Wilton’s Music Hall. It’s not the first time the two have worked together closely; The Staves went out on tour supporting Bon Iver, and Vernon also produced the sisters’ second album ‘If I Was,’ which came out earlier this month. Speaking to DIY, The Staves previously compared their friend Vernon to “Gandalf, he was guiding us hobbits through the quest to find the ring… to make a record!”

Toning down the original’s dreamy touch of electronics, its The Staves’ characteristically on-point harmonies which bring ‘I’m On Fire’ alive, and meanwhile, Vernon takes the helm on lead vocals. In the clip, both acts speak about the influence Springsteen has had on their music since they were young.
