The Wombats plot return, announce new album, ‘Glitterbug’
The Merseyside trio’s third full-length will be released next April.
The Wombats have begun plotting their return, with details of a new album.
The Merseyside trio, last seen with 2011 Top 5 hit ‘This Modern Glitch’, will release ‘Glitterbug’, their third full-length, next April.
The record, produced by the band alongside Bastille’s go-to knob-twiddler Mark Crew, will be out via 14th Floor / Warner on 6th April 2015. It features the previously released track, ‘Your Body Is A Weapon’.
It was, as frontman Murph explains, inspired by Los Angeles’ “opulence and anxiety”, and began its life around a fictional relationship in the city. “That became the main inspiration for most of the songs, this false world that I’d created for myself,” he says.“As time progressed, I’d go to L.A. more and more, and the idea kept on building. The album’s about the envy and the struggle and the pretence and the worry and the fear that L.A. – and every major city in the world – encompasses.”
The Wombats also tour the UK next April, beginning on 8th April in Bristol.
