Last week, The xx released their long-awaited third album ‘I See You’, and to celebrate they joined Clara Amfo on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge on Friday morning.
Of course, every visitor to the Live Lounge has to take on a cover, and the trio decided to tackle Drake and Rihanna. But no, they didn’t dare to try ‘Take Care’, the pair’s mega-hit that was built around one of Jamie xx’s Gil Scott-Heron remixes. That would be way too meta.
Instead, they took on ‘Too Good’, from Drizzy’s latest album ‘Views’, which Romy called “secret emo”. That hidden emo side perfectly fit The xx’s stripped-back, lovingly minimalist version of the R&B number.
You can hear them cover ‘Too Good’ below and read our review of ‘I See You’ here.
