The XX’s Music Falsely Used By Anti-Homosexuality Group, Band Issue Response

The xx

have released a statement hitting out at the Croatian company U ime obitelji, which has falsely used their music in an advertising campaign.

‘U ime obitelji’ translates to ‘On behalf of the family’. The company is a citizens’ initative which is calling for a referendum that would make marriage a lifelong union between man and woman. The movement claims that ‘same-sex parents can not meet the needs of children in a family that in their opinion, consisting of father and mother.’

The xx have responded on Facebook by saying: ‘We wish to state that we didn’t, and would never, approve the use of our music by this organisation.

‘To be clear, we unconditionally support the equal right to marriage regardless of sexuality.
