Thom Yorke schedules first ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ show

The performance of the Radiohead frontman’s 2014 sophomore solo project will take place in Japan.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has been confirmed to perform music from his second solo album ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ for the first time since its release via BitTorrent last year. The performance will take place during Tokyo’s Summersonic Festival on the 15th August at the Hostess Club’s all-nighter.

As reported by CMU, the news was confirmed by producer Nigel Godrich via his Twitter where he said:

“In answer yes I will be there with some modern boxes and also @tarikbarri with visuals…”

And less cryptically (following a tweet in Japanese):

“I guess that’s japanese for - @thomyorke is playing a little gig in japan at the Hostess Club All-Nighter.. at Summer Sonic festival Japan”

Also performing at the festival is FFS (Franz Ferdinand and Sparks), Matthew Herbert, Spiritualized, Jon Hopkins, Bo Ningen and more. Check out the full line-up here.

While there are no further dates announced as of yet, it’s hoped that the announcement of this first show means more tour dates may come. In the meantime, check out the video for lead track ‘A Brain in a Bottle’ below and read DIY’s verdict of ‘Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes’ here.
