Thyla are unapologetically euphoric on ‘Pristine Dream’
The Brighton bunch’s new one celebrates “the wonky, left field against the grain individual”.
Back in May, Brightonians Thyla returned with a brand new track, ‘Ferris Wheels’, which reintroduced us to their swooning, vintage indie-pop.
Now they’re back with ‘Pristine Dream’, another euphoric cut where frontwoman Millie Duthie’s haunting vocals take centre stage amongst waves of dreamy guitars, crisp percussion and delicate synth melodies. It all comes to an explosive climax in the soaring chorus, where the best parts of Thyla’s dreampop vision converges in a flurry of swooning sound. It’s, well, a pristine cut from the Brightonians.
Speaking about their new track, the band say: “‘Pristine Dream’ celebrates the wonky, left field, against the grain individual. It’s about inviting people into the dark corners of your psyche and apologising for nothing. The track is essentially a pop anthem for the statement: “The only things you regret are the things you don’t do”.
Thyla will also be heading out on tour in the coming months as special guests of a load of ace bands. They’ll be joining the likes of Lazy Day, Jakil, Husky Loops and Tear in August and September. In October, they’re also set to support Stevie Parker at London’s Moth Club.
