Irish punks TOUTS share new single 'Bomb Scare', a reaction to the Charlotte shootings

Irish punks TOUTS are releasing their new EP ‘Lit’ at the end of the month, and we’ve got the first play of its first single as today’s Neu Pick.

‘Bomb Scare’ is an intense first preview of the new collection, out on 29th October via Hometown Records, and is a fiery, reactionary track, written after the shootings in Charlotte, NC earlier this year.

An uncompromising thrash through ’70s-channelling punk, the track manages to be bundles of fun and undoubtedly danceable, despite its heavy subject matter and undeniable anger.

Talking about the track, vocalist Matthew Crossan says: “The song was written around the time when the news was covering the injustice in America, when Keith Scott was ‘shot down in Charlotte’ for no apparent reason.

The song is also about the on-going refugee crisis, it’s morally important for people to help people, and you never know when you yourself may need help.”

TOUTS are currently on a UK tour, with three shows left in Stoke, Newcastle and London. View the dates and listen to ‘Bomb Scare’ below.
