‘Uptown Funk’ is making a fortune on Spotify
Mark Ronson’s worldwide hit is making $100k a week on the site alone.
Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ is currently No.1 in more than 20 countries and since its release in November, it has been making $100k just by Spotify alone. Music Business Worldwide reports that before this week, the track has been played 125.9 million times, bringing in a total of $880k.
Spotify roughly pay $0.007 per-play for every track streamed by its users, with Ronson’s track currently hovering above 15 million streams a week. The current record for Ronson’s track is 15.4 million plays during the week commencing Monday 26th January.
Last week, ‘Uptown Funk’ was knocked off its perch in the Official Singles Chart, with Ellie Goulding’s ‘Love Me Like You Do’ taking the top spot.
