Watch: Sothko Unveils ‘Sink Away’ Video
Glasgow animator/musician shows off once more on his second song to date.

For the unacquainted, Sothko is the guise of Glasgow’s Marc Johansen. In simple terms, he’s really, really clever. He calls himself an ‘artist’, and without being all highbrow he has every right to. Songs aren’t just songs, they’re grand ideas arriving alongside smart animated videos that make you think. But it’s not chin-stroking fodder, because there’s actually a very good song each time round too.
Last time, Sothko shared the ‘Everything is fine’ debut, which went as far as saying that everything really isn’t fine at all. It was depressing, but it also provided an eye-opening account of a) suburban misery and b) Johansen’s potential.
New song ‘Sink Away’ is similarly downbeat, and again it’s cast up against some ever-flowing visuals that include geometric formulae, countdowns, x-rays and elephants. Sothko also has a nifty new website which shows off his talents. He must be rubbish at something, but he’s yet to show it.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
