Watch: The Shins Get Animated For ‘The Rifle’s Spiral’
Emmy-winning director Jamie Caliri creates a video for the track.
After debuting on both 2D and 3D via the Nintendo 3DS (yes, really), The Shins’ animated video for ‘The Rifle’s Spiral’ is now available for all to view, regardless of their console collection, via Nowness.
Speaking of the use of the platform for viewing a music video, Emmy Award-winning director Jamie Caliri explained:
‘Stop-motion in 3-D has a special quality of bringing the subtle handmade details to the forefront, so we were so excited to have Nintendo premiere the video on Nintendo 3DS. People can watch it in 3-D without special glasses, which should make it easier to see those details shine through. Times have changed - music videos aren’t just for TV or computers anymore.’
‘The Rifle’s Spiral’ is the opening track on The Shins’ long-awaited fourth studio album, released back in March, and featuring single ‘Simple Song’.
A behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video can be viewed below.
