Weezer tease new material with latest ‘Weezer Wednesday’

The short snippet includes what might be part of a new song.

Vague as hell? Yes, yes it all is. Weezer have been updating fans with various bits of spliced-together footage for some weeks now, as they work on album number nine, the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Hurley’.

While past videos have included studio footage, and some brilliantly grungy guitar sounds, number eight, titled ‘Ain’t Got Nobody’, features part of what might be a new song proper - and if so, seems to suggest all those noises before could have been nothing but a ruse.

Slick, polished and as radio-friendly as a giant wireless with a smiley face on the front, the lyrics might make a nod to vulnerability, but the music itself is as brash and bold as the band get.

Oh, and is that Rivers Cuomo in those final frames - or Walter White?
