William Orbit Reveals Blur Recording Sessions Were ‘Stopped Suddenly’

Orbit has spoken to NME about the current status of Blur’s recording process.

William Orbit has told NME that Blur had previously been working in the studio, until Damon Albarn stopped the sessions.

Talking to NME, producer Orbit said: ‘The new stuff sounded amazing. Then it all stopped suddenly. It was all over with Damon, and the rest of the band were like, ‘is this it?”

According to the interview - which will appear in this week’s issue, released today - the sessions were halted by the frontman just three weeks ago.

This news comes in the long line of comments made regarding whether or not the band will continue as a unit, following their scheduled shows this summer.

The band will play three venues and four shows later this year. They’ll kick off with a show at Margate Winter Gardens on 1st August, with two Wolves gigs on the 5th and 6th and a date at Plymouth Pavilions on 7th August.

The dates read:

August
1 Margate Winter Gardens
5 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
6 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
7 Plymouth Pavillions

Blur are also set to play a couple of European festivals and an Olympics closing ceremony celebration in Hyde Park on August 12th. The band will also release a special box set containing their entire back catalogue on 30th July.
