Wolf Alice share reflective new single ‘The Sofa’ as taken from forthcoming new album ‘The Clearing’
The London quartet have followed the new record’s bombastic lead single with a more introverted, piano-led offering.

Just a few weeks on from their triumphant performance at Glastonbury 2025, Wolf Alice have returned with another slice of their forthcoming new album, ‘The Clearing’. Following on from the album’s bombastic lead single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ - which landed back in May - their latest offering, ‘The Sofa’, showcases the other side of their musical coin perfectly.
A reflective rumination on moving out of the ambitious chaos that can sometimes define your 20s and into a more self-assured, content period of life, ‘The Sofa’ is a gorgeous piano-led track that builds swells to a goosebump-inducing crescendo. “It’s about not trying so hard to figure everything out, reflecting on getting older and trying not to agonise over things that have or haven’t happened in your life,” the band’s Ellie Rowsell has said of the track. “It’s also about trying to get to grips with the polarising aspects of one’s life when you’re in a band. You’ve just played a huge tour - and you come home, and you have your dinner on the sofa. For me, it’s summed up in how I treat TV. I used to never watch the same thing twice because I thought I’ve got so much to discover! And now I’m like, It’s okay if I just want to rewatch Peep Show for the thirteenth time.”
Alongside the release of ‘The Sofa’, the band have also shared its accompanying video, which comes directed by Fiona Jane Burgess and was filmed on the sun-soaked streets of North London. The result is a hazy, still-intimate portrait of the area in which the album was written. Check it out below.
Their two latest tracks get lifted from their forthcoming fourth album, ‘The Clearing’, which is now set for release on 22nd August via their new label home of Sony Music. Written in North London’s Seven Sisters and recorded in LA with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin, the forthcoming LP will act as a follow up to 2021’s ‘Blue Weekend’ - a record which DIY hailed as “a history-book cementing document of a band at the peak of their powers.”
What’s more, the band have a huge UK and Ireland tour scheduled for the end of 2025 - remind yourself of their upcoming live dates below.
