Years & Years: “You could open a deli with our rider”

Band answer all the big questions in DIY’s December 2015 / January 2016 issue.

In the December 2015 / January 2016 issue of DIY (out tomorrow, Friday 4th December), Years & Years look back on their whirldwind year.

Last year’s Class Of coverstars have gone on to top the charts with debut album ‘Communion’, becoming megastars in the process. We decided to check in on them and make sure they hadn’t become dickheads.

“You could open a deli with our rider,” they confess in a new interview. “Sliced meats, hummus, breads, sauces, dips. It’s all very deli-based,” says Olly Alexander. “We were once told our rider was the best for sandwiches,” boasts Emre Turkmen.

“It’s been a year of firsts,” says Mikey Goldsworthy, looking back on 2015. “Probably a nine out of ten.”

“You can never get a ten,” adds Emre. “It’s a falsity. When in life is anything perfect?”
