Yumi Zouma examine “life, love and temporary loss” on ‘Depths (Pt. I)’

The New Zealanders’ new album ‘Willowbank’ is out in October.

A couple of weeks ago, New Zealanders Yumi Zouma announced that their new album ‘Willowbank’ would be out on 6th October via Cascine.

After revealing ‘December’ at the same time as announcing the album, the band have now lifted the lid on another new track, ‘Depths (Pt. I)’, which is also the opening track of ‘Willowbank’. It’s another typically dreamy, hazy cut from the group, with some disco-pop vibes.

The band’s Charlie Ryder commented on the track: “‘Depths is a song about life, love and temporary loss, and all the little moments in between that drag us to the edge of our existences. The people that take your crazy and run with it, turning life upside down in the process, with no regard for the consequences when they forget about you for the day. In parallel, the song explores the ways that we hopelessly fight against this process, as we try to cling onto reality and our sense of self, when really, we should all be letting go before it’s too late”.

The band have also announced a couple of dates in the UK, taking place in October. They’ll be hitting London’s Omeara on the 6th, and The Joker in Brighton on the 8th. Tickets are on sale now.
