, Frank Iero’s (he of My Chemical Romance fame…) other outfit are “pissed off”, apparently.

‘5th Period Massacre’ has a decent enough melody but the screaming vocals really spoil it. The lyrics can barely be made out – so what is the point if having lyrics in the first place? ‘Catch Me If You Can’, is, unfortunately of the same kind of stuff – good melody, fast-paced rhythm, it’s just a shame about the vocals. ‘This Song Is About Being Attacked By Monsters’… Oh dear. It would seem that Iero and his men have run out of ideas. ‘I Am Going To Kill The President Of The United States Of America’ is, presumably, about Bush junior and not the Man of the Moment – Obama. There’s not much in the way of a decent melody this time, until the chorus. A bit late, don’t you think? Rock Against Bush is so 2004…

Sadly, this same old same old structure never changes throughout the album. After a while, all the tracks sound exactly like the previous. Ok, so we get that you’re angry… but what at? We’re not convinced – we just don’t believe him. It sounds like a typical toddler tantrum.

This album may well find you hitting the stop button. Then again, regardless of marks given, this album will surely sell – purely because of Iero’s connections to My Chemical Romance. The kids are going to love it but those with both ears and sense however…

When are musicians going to learn? If you’re “pissed off” at the world – tell the world. Screaming and stamping your feet won’t get you taken seriously and probably won’t do much beyond making you look like a fool. Pack a punch with your lyrics – that’s where your real power lies, not in how loud you can scream. The band have promise, that much is certain, but let’s hope LeATHERMOUTH’s second offering to the world really makes an impact.
