Caribou - Can’t Do Without You

If you look at the lineage of Caribou song titles, Dan Snaith’s gone from direct locations (‘Andorra’, ‘Odessa’) to planetary obsessions (‘Sun’) - but on the closing track of previous album ‘Swim’, he referred to a specific person, ‘Jamelia’. Now it looks as if this producer - never shy in adding warmth to his tracks - is giving his music an even more personal slant.

‘Can’t Do Without You’ is the first time Snaith’s applied a direct, intimate statement as a song title. In turn, this is a song that gets up close and offers romantic truths to a steamed-up, repeat-heavy strand of electronic music. It’s the sound of the guy behind the desk offering himself up, revealing more than just mere knowhow.
