EP Review
Tooth - Restless In Bloom
4 StarsA powerful debut that boasts the promise of exciting things to come.
Describing themselves as “sweaty and promising’, four-piece band Tooth prove they don’t have to worry about teething problems on their debut EP. ‘Restless In Bloom’ is exactly what you’d expect from a dimly lit, sticky floor venue, with a back to basics approach that cuts right to the enamel of what US alt and garage rock is. Compiled of five songs, the EP deals with the complexity of growing older and plays with the notion of being unsatisfied in life and relationships. Beginning with an ode to nostalgia via first track ‘Schoolyard’- which grapples with the idea of hindsight and the complexity of life after leaving childhood innocence - its follow-up, ‘Age Of Innocence’ soon follows in cataclysmic style, while the self-titled closer encapsulates the concept of the whole EP perfectly. After only releasing their first single in January, this is a powerful debut that boasts the promise of exciting things to come.
