In Case Of Fire - Enemies

As a live band In Case Of Fire are certainly not half bad, with their black uniforms and three piece dynamic it comes across pretty well, let down only by the frontman’s penchant for a lot of reverb. Unlike a lot of acts of this ilk (heavy-ish rock, nearly (but not quite) verging on emo) they’ve managed to translate this into an actually quite pleasing experience on record too.

Don’t get us wrong, this is not groundbreaking by any means, it’s something we’ve heard many a time before in fact. However, with ‘Enemies’ the charm comes from witnessing an exercise in getting this type of thing absolutely spot on. Utilising all of the hallmarks of the genre with expected drum breaks and good quality riffing In Case Of Fire show their competency yet without the over-earnestness of many of their contemporaries.

More than anything else this will sit well with the Kerrang crowd, but overall if you like a bit of Biffy Clyro, this single might be worth checking out. However, if boys in black playing angsty rock for three minutes sounds like hell, they you’d best avoid this like the plague.
