Glastonbury 2016

Bastille give a taste of ‘Wild World’ at Glastonbury 2016

It’s all infectious grins and stadium-sized hooks on the Other Stage on Friday night.

Bastille are in town (well, field), and they’ve brought along a bucketload of new music, wide toothy grins, and brass bloody band for good measure today. Frontman Dan Smith leaps and skips his way about – spending a sizeable chunk of the set down in the front row – catching eyes with a chortling Woody, and after some time away from the festival circuit, the band look stoked to be back.

Their happiness is infectious, and as the sun goes down, it’s a sea of wafting flags, and people balanced precariously on their mates’ shoulders. New single ‘Good Grief’ has only been out for a second in the grand scheme of things, but a fair chunk of people here today know every last syllable. ‘The Currents’ also goes down with all the reception of a mars bar vendor walking into an empty sweet shop, the crowds clutching at every single stadium ready hook.

Debut favourites served up with a huge dollop of future things to come, tonight it’s like Bastille never left.
