Together For Palestine aim for Christmas #1 with charity single ‘Lullaby’

Together For Palestine - a coalition of artists working together to raise vital funds for the people of Gaza in the face of the ongoing genocide - have dropped a charity single entitled ‘Lullaby’, with the goal of getting it to Christmas #1 in the UK Official Charts.

A reimagining of ‘Yamma Mweel El Hawa’, a traditional Palestinian lullaby, the track comes in the wake of Together For Palestine’s sold-out Wembley concert - which raised over £2 million - and will feature vocals from a wide range of very familiar voices, including Brian Eno, Celeste, Bastille’s Dan Smith, Lana Lubany, Leigh-Anne, Nadine Shah and more. 

Of ‘Lullaby’, Palestinian musician Nai Barghouti (who also features on the track) has explained: “This lullaby from our Palestinian musical heritage has been with me since early childhood. Today, it returns at a much-needed time as a reminder of what Palestinians will never lose: hope, defiance, beauty, and dignity.”

Accompanying the charity single is a powerful video directed by Lina Makoul, which was shot on location in different areas of Palestine, including Gaza, to highlight the nation’s resilience and beauty. “Our screens have been filled with devastating, unfiltered footage from Gaza for more than two years now,” Makoul has said. “And even though this has brought a lot of truth and understanding to the Palestinian cause, it’s also a double-edged sword. The other edge is how the world is slowly being trained to only connect Palestinians with rubble, bombs, destruction, and victimhood.

“As a storyteller who works with music and visuals, I feel it’s my responsibility to push against that imposed image and show us as the humans we are first. You can see us as hopeless victims if you want, but I see us as stubborn in our dignity.”

All the money raised from the release will be donated to Choose Love’s Together For Palestine Fund, which supports three Palestinian-led organisations: Taawon; Palestine Children’s Relief Fund; and Palestine Medical Relief Service. Fans can buy ‘Lullaby’ now on all digital platforms.
