Live Review

Peace, 100 Club, London

The question is no longer if they become leaders of the pack, but when.

There’s one thing Peace and their fans have in common: they both love small, sweaty and unpredictable shows. And as much chaos as anyone’s used to from this bunch, no one is expecting the set to open with ‘1998’ and for it to trigger such an intense reaction from the crowd. It takes something to be able to do that with an almost lyric-less song.

Tonight is so loaded with hits that the front row quickly becomes one of the most dangerous places in Central London, not giving the audience a break with even B-Side 'Scumbag' (a song presented as "one we haven't played in a really really long time") forcing a few stage invaders to be escorted away.

The perfect blend of 90s vibes and contagious funk beats of new track 'Lost On Me' is a guaranteed bet for more than a few top-singles-of-the-year lists, and there's even a few people recreating the choreography from the video. You can only finish a show like this with the warmest of all forms of fan devotion: a massive stage invasion.

For some moments Peace might look like they're taking the 90s revival movement too far, but on the verge of their second album, the question is no longer if they become leaders of the pack, but when.
