Live Review
R.E.M., National Auditorium, Mexico City
As good as a party with your best friends.
This past November 18th, R.E.M. came to Mexico City for a second time, but this was a special occasion: the close of the Summer tour for their ‘Accelerate’ album at the National Auditorium.
The band are so friendly throughout the concert that the public just let themselves go during each song and hang on their every word. They play their classic hits, such as ‘Orange Crush’, ‘Losing My Religion’ and ‘Everybody Hurts’, with a new and fresh sound, and newer songs like ‘Imitation Of Life’ fit in perfectly beside them. Almost the entire of the new album is given an airing throughout their two hour set.
Before playing the final song, ‘Man On The Moon’, Stipe thanks his audience and promises to return soon. The gig has been as good as a party with your best friends.
