Run the Jewels could be making a ‘Meow the Jewels’, featuring cat sounds
Kickstarter has been started to kick El-P and Killer Mike into cat-obsessed action.
This October, Run the Jewels release their highly-anticipated ‘RTJ2’ album, and they’re delivering the free download in various forms. Fans have the option of pre-ordering the record in various forms, including the $7,500 “I’m on the fucking list, asshole” package, which grants AAA to 10 of their forthcoming tour dates. Or there’s the “Mystery Time Surpreme” package, which forces Run the Jewels to start a private detective agency “and make you an employee for a month where you and run the jewels will work together to unravel local mysteries but mostly just smoke weed in the back of your van.”
One of the more outlandish package propositions is “Meow The Jewels”, which - for the price of $40,000 - will prompt the duo into re-recording ‘RTJ2’ using nothing but cat sounds for music. It arrives with the usual “run the jewels reserves the right to take your money and not fulfill any of its obligations as outlined in any package priced at 35k or more” disclaimer, but a Kickstarter has been started calling the duo into action.
Currently $3,000 of the required 45k, the Kickstarter has led to El-P promising to fulfil the package. He’s also said that any money raised would go direct to charity. So go on, what are you waiting for?
