Neu Mix #17: Cosmo Sheldrake
Busy bod’s exclusive mix is a little like a magician revealing the method to his tricks.
could easily have become a mechanic with too many tools. Wordsmith, literature obsessive, occasional beatboxer… It reads like the cv of a 21st century Oscar Wilde with too short an attention span.
Sheldrake’s been sparing in the songs unveiled to date. Information is a little more forthcoming, one fact being that he used to teach musical workshops in Brighton. His exclusive mix for DIY Weekly, as it happens, gives a few lessons of its own. Decades previous are snatched up and compressed into one seamless piece. The foundations of Cosmo’s all-encompassing lunacy are boiling right up within a 55 minute slot. There’s even room for a cheeky inclusion of his own; an exclusive glimpse of new material than builds on samples from eras gone and points straight to the future. It’s like a straight on point punchline that helps give context to all the build-up. Smart so-and-so.
