Listen: Dub Thompson Stream ‘No Time’ Track

The fact that a member of Foxygen (Jonathan Rado) produced Dub Thompson’s debut album ‘9 Songs’ says everything you need to know about a nostalgia-steeped, exciting new duo equally concerned with in-jokes and flashy tunes.

On ‘No Time’, the pair of Matt Pulos and Evan Laffer - 19 years a-piece - brazenly shout and spoil and scenery, linking old school samples up with a frenzied, old-fashioned take on rock ‘n roll. It begins sample-based, like an Avalanches song flipped on its head. Cut to forty seconds in and shuffling organs rub up alongside slinky bass notes. It all becomes one giant playhouse of alternative rock, ready for its big day out.

‘9 Songs’ is out 9th June via Dead Oceans.
