Finn Wolfhard is the cover star of DIY's bumper July/August 2026 issue!

It’s no secret that Finn Wolfhard has been busy in recent years. From closing the door on his early career-spanning stint in Stranger Things, to embarking on his solo music career via a run of live shows and the release of his debut, ‘Happy Birthday’, last summer, it’s been a hectic time for the young multi-hyphenate - and that’s not changing any time soon. Now, as he shares his second solo record in just over a year, we caught up with him on a recent jaunt to London to reflect on some of life’s big questions for our July / August 2026 cover.

“It’s amazing to have that kind of freedom and those opportunities,” Finn says in our cover feature, reflecting on growing up and doing things on his own terms. “But it’s also scary having to be responsible for yourself. If you’re a kid actor, you’re still learning, and you have your parents. Now, it’s really freeing, but also scary to be out there and [accept that] I am going to make mistakes. I am going to be drawn to things that I want to do - and that might not necessarily be what other people want me to do. But I have to take that responsibility on myself, because it’s my life and my career.”

Elsewhere in our new bumper July / August 2026 mag, we’re celebrating some of the biggest releases of the summer, including debut albums from three of the UK’s brightest new prospects: electrifying Manchester quartet Westside Cowboy, ethereal London trio mary in the junkyard, and rabble-rousing experimentalists Man/Woman/Chainsaw.

Elsewhere, Show Me The Body open up about turning grief into power, FLO take the reins for second album ‘Therapy At The Club’, and Lucia & The Best Boys take inspiration from Scotland’s stunning landscapes ahead of new LP ‘Picking Petals’. Beyond that, we’re also catching up with some more familiar faces in indie mainstays Mystery Jets and summer soundtrack connoisseurs Jungle, while the inimitable Kelela talks longevity, defying expectations, and living with courage in this month’s In Deep interview.

Over in our Neu section - aka your one-stop shop for all things new music - we introduce NYC outfit Slow Fiction, Nigerian storyteller Tommy WÁ, and London enigmas Ebbb, and in Reviews, we give the DIY verdict on everything from OR3 and Yard Act’s latest to Harry Styles’ record-breaking Wembley run and Wolf Alice’s huge Finsbury Park homecoming. To say this one’s a packed issue would be an understatement!
