Raury isn’t an interview machine. He doesn’t sit Zane Lowe down for an hour before recounting his life story (although he might, one day). He’s only spoken to a handful of publications about his big goals, mostly because he’s a teenager with one record to his name and just a handful of shows under his belt.

But part of the reason why this Atlantan is up there in the ‘big things for 2015’ game (He’s been announced as #4 in the BBC Sound Of list) comes down to brash statements. He’s not just making genre-bending music that’s different by default. There’s also a ton of theory and brash excitement about the whole thing.
