Raury lands fourth spot on BBC Sound of 2015
Atlantan with a cause like no other joins George the Poet in the top five.
Atlanta-based newcomer Raury has picked up the fourth spot in this year’s BBC Sound Of 2015.
Having released his ‘Indigo Child’ project last year, Raury’s played just one headline UK show - an unforgettable debut at the Red Gallery, where he signed LP copies and did impromptu ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ covers - he’s expected to release his debut album this year.
Alongside ‘Indigo Child’, last year saw Raury contributing a song to the Lorde curated ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’ soundtrack, as well as appearing on ‘Higher’ from SBTRKT’s ‘Wonder Where We Land’ record.
Get to know Raury in DIY’s extensive Class of 2015 interview. “Even if you don’t think I know what the fuck I’m talking about, just know that something’s going on,” is one of several mind-boggling and brilliant quotes he comes out with.
Raury joins George the Poet in the Sound of 2015 top five - the winner will be announced on Friday 9th January by Huw Stephens on Radio 1.
