THE GIG
TRAAMS, Running Dogs, Trampolene, Birdskulls - Brighton, Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar

Two Neu favourites, TRAAMS and Birdskulls, bring an unbeatable Brighton force to the evening, pushing unrelenting scuzz through a boundary that basically doesn’t exist on the seaside. Anything goes.

THE SONG
Grapell - White Fox in the Snow
Grapell by Grapell

Stockholm sheds a new layer. Scandinavia is bathed in praise as it is, but in Grapell - a trio from Sweden’s capital - even more imagination comes to the fore. Josh from Crack in the Road rightly picked up on this being the highlight of a self-titled, debut release. Like a more organically arranged song from Duologue, or Radiohead at a push if we’re just judging the emotional vocal burst, ‘White Fox in the Snow’ is a vivid, Wintery work, up there with Indians in expressing something cold, real and gripping.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Janette Moon - Indefinite

Bedroom to the core. London producer Janette Moon is rooted to her own space. What she might lack in showy production she makes up for in expressing her emotions better than any fancy gadgetry could. It’s all in the vocals, shaky and barely conscious at times, but capable of floating over Ibiza-comedown dance tracks; soul comes creeping through all the hastily patched up corners.
