New music guide The Neu Bulletin (17th June 2015)
DIY’s new music tips, featuring The Big Moon and London O’Connor.
The Neu Bulletin is a daily update of the most exciting new things DIY’s listening to. Think of it as a stream of recommendations that every so often pops up something spectacular. Most of these are Bandcamp finds, big ups from readers or cheeky submissions that pop out the inbox.
Every day we offer up a choice show, a song of the day (branched under the understated heading “Big Neu Thing”) and a little something extra that’s caught our attention. Check back here every day for your latest Neu Bulletin delivery and follow our ‘Listen’-tag for everything new music related.
THE GIG: The Big Moon, Public Access TV, Fake Laugh, The Magic Gang (DJ)
If you ever needed evidence that there’s a bright, brilliant crop of new bands taking over the country, tonight’s gig is perfect proof. The Big Moon launch their debut single ‘Sucker’, and they’re joined by temporary Londoners Public Access TV, hook addict Fake Laugh and Brighton bunch The Magic Gang (on DJs).
THE BIG NEU THING:London O’Connor — GUTS
It takes ‘GUTS’ to do what London O’Connor’s doing. From day one, he’s emerged with more than just music - the guy makes his own video games, directs his own videos and continues to take pop in more oddball directions. His latest track is a fusion of cutting rap and playful production, a series of ‘ain’t’’s that form into a direct statement of what O’Connor most definitely is - a brave new talent.
OTHER NEU BUSINESS:Cruising — Safe Corridor
Racing into the spotlight with rollicking, noirish charm, Cruising are a four-piece birthed out of members from Girls Names, September Girls, Sea Pinks and Logikparty. Signed to Tough Love, their debut release is due out 14th August, and ‘Safe Corridor’ paves the way with devilish intent.
