THE GIG
The Great Escape. DIY Stage: Swim Deep, Dan Croll, Concrete Knives, Superfood, Parlour - Brighton, Audio. Saturday 18th, from 6pm

You’ve a couple of choices this weekend, depending on where you’re basing yourself. If you’re in Brighton it’s obligatory that you head down to Brighton Audio from 6pm on Saturday night to catch sight of Superfood and Dan Croll amongst big-hitters Swim Deep (pictured, above), on the DIY stage.

Parquet Courts - London, 100 Club (Sunday 19th)

But if you’re rooting yourself to the capital, Parquet Courts return from Brighton to play a sold out gig, with support from new Fatcat signings TRAAMS.

THE SONG
YRRS - Sandy Hands

South coast (London? Brighton? We can’t keep up) brotherly duo YRRS have been off the radar for a good while. After making a bit of a stir with their melodic, noisy pop throughout 2011 and 2012, it’s now been a year since they last uploaded a song to SoundCloud. We’re not too sure about the cause of their absence but we are very pleased to be welcoming them back and thankfully ‘Sandy Hands’ sounds like a band that never left at all. On it the two-piece make a sound reminiscent of the catchy, distorted sound of Wavves through the use of a guitar and drums alone. No mean feat. [Jake May]
