THE WEEKEND GIG
Sky Larkin, Birdskulls, Radstewart, Luke Godwin - London, The Old Blue Last (Saturday 22nd)
Sky Larkin are relative veterans on the scene, but we’ll be down at this DIY Presents show to check out Cardiff’s Radstewart. Pavement-channelling, Parquet-rivalling intelligence is a staple of their early demos. Birdskulls bring the scuzz and Luke Godwin is a vital completion to the bill. It’s FREE.
THE SONG
BEARCUBS - Elegy
Elegy//Trust U EP by Bearcubs
Seeing in the weekend with some dusky garage, BEARCUBS’ debut EP is the muggy feeling of summer clothes sticking to your skin. Haunting, cold drones rub against scattered beats, dissonant synth patterns. It’s a nasty, creeping sensation, but one you’re likely to embrace in an act of masochism.
