News The Neu Bulletin (22nd January 2013)

Neu’s daily new music & live music recommendations, featuring Flume and Luke Bower.

As the week goes by, Neu gives you a choice show and a selection of new music tips, all in the name of exposing you to something new and exciting.

If there’s a gig that’s worth heading to, we’ll tell you all about it, and if there’s a song you need in your life, we’ll make sure it doesn’t fly under the radar. It’s the Neu Bulletin.

THE GIG
Flume - The Haunt, Brighton

Still working on a more fully-fledged live show (in a forthcoming DIY interview he talks excitedly about doing something similar to SBTRKT and Neon Indian, on stage) Harley Streten takes his Gold-disc Flume project to the UK, ahead of his self-titled album’s release on these shores through Transgressive Records. He’ll be STRETting his stuff, if you will. The intimate Haunt venue is going to be one of the last remaining glimpses of seeing Flume perform to such a small crowd. Beyond the puns, we’re certain of that.

THE SONG
Swanton Bombs - The Best Version Of You

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Luke Bower - Dance In The Dark

This is what would happen if Jamie and Oliver from the xx hogged up the studio and changed the locks without telling Romy. Romy’s lovely. We know this. But we’re just telling you, the smoke-filled lungs of Luke Bower project something similarly husky and entrancing to Oliver Sim’s signature delivery. ‘Dance In The Dark’, backed by a light, house-indebted hum, is a startling early effort.
