THE GIG
Girl Band - London, Old Blue Last

The timing of this Girl Band show couldn’t be any more precise. Two weeks after the debris and damage of their new ‘Lawman’ single’s been dusted off, one of the country’s fiercest most demanding live forces are back in London with a vengeance. It’s a free show.

THE BIG NEU THING
HEAVEN - Can’t Grow Up With Poison

The devil’s in the detail. HEAVEN - a Los Angeles-residing, gloom pop projector - is charging $666 for his debut collection of demos on Bandcamp. Inspired by My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails and anyone else willing to smash their guitar into pieces, ‘Can’t Grow Up With Poison’ is an example of his freakish intent. Dark-minded he might be, but he seems to use music as an outlet, with nothing to hide. He’s probably a lovely guy - just don’t let him rip you off with that hefty price-tag.

HEAVEN plays with Cheatahs on 27th February at the Los Angeles Echo.

OTHER NEU BUSINESS
Fake Laugh - Tell Me Why

Girl Band’s big draw tonight isn’t the only thing to get overly excited about. They’re joined by Beta Blocker & The Body Clock and Kamrin Khan aka Fake Laugh. Three months back the fuzz fiend released a postcard single on Art Is Hard records. Recent track ‘Tell Me Why’ is even more up in your face, with diamond-studded riffs pouring out speakers at a ferocious frame-rate.

Fake Laugh is on stage at the Old Blue Last tonight, 8.45pm.
